i can't believe i'm somehow only just now seeing this. this is so beautiful, and so touching. i wanted to pick out some of my favorite lines that really resonated with me to highlight but i ended up copying and pasting so much that it was getting out of hand, so i'll just say - thank you for sharing this essay!

This is so raw and personal, but also the comics are filled with such comedy in the contrast of the cute birds with the horrific injuries. Thank you for sharing this.
